Digital Photography

This class gives students a basic understanding of digital photography. Students will learn to understand ISO, aperture & time value; enabling them to use a fully manual setting on the camera.

  • Course Length: 6 weeks, 24 hours
  • Materials Needed: A Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) or mirrorless camera is required for this course.

  • Course Hours: 6-8 pm, Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Fees: $495.00 Taxes included.

Together with leaning the camera manual settings, students will obtain a basic understanding of photography theory including perspective and movement as well as the difference between camera RAW and jpeg.

Knowledge of Lightroom and Photoshop will be obtained through metadata, archival and basic photo retouching

Please bring your own camera. All other film equipment will be provided by Pacific Design Academy.

 Know your camera; Camera Basics, Shooting in Manual mode, and Exposure Triangle.

Exposure Triangle continued; Speed photography, and Visual effects with shutter speed.

Theory; Perspective, and rule of thirds, and Photo Critique.

Light control; Leading lines, Reflecting light, and visual effects with filters.

Creative photography; Focus point, Painting with light.

Light control; Camera Light metering, Painting with light as fine art, and introduction to camera flash.

 Light control; on/off camera flash.

Lightroom; Library module, personalization, metadata.

Lightroom; Develop module, intro to retouching.

Lightroom; Develop module, masking, introduction to Photoshop.

Lightroom and Photoshop; Putting it all together, class review.

Quiz, Photoshoot, Editing, and Presentation to class.
